Charles R. “Dick” Tutwiler Receives Industry Recognition Award
Charles R “Dick “Tutwiler CPCLA/ PCLA, President of Tutwiler & Associates, Public Adjusters and Loss Consultants, was recently awarded the second annual WIND Presidential Recognition Award at the 2011 Windstorm Insurance Conference in Houston, Texas. The award was established to recognize annually a member who has contributed significant knowledge, service and leadership to better the Windstorm Insurance Network (WIND).

Mr. Tutwiler has served on numerous board positions with the association including Director on the inaugural Board, 2000-2003; Vice President, 2003-2004; past President, 2004-2005; Umpire Committee member, 2003 to present; inaugural Umpire Review Committee chairperson, 2009 to present; and workshop faculty presenter at every annual and regional WIND conference. “This was a real surprise and truly an honor to be recognized by an industry that has given so much to me both personally and professionally,” stated Mr. Tutwiler.
As the President during the devastating hurricane season of 2004, Dick was instrumental in spearheading WIND's efforts to donate to disaster relief efforts. Since 2004, WIND has donated $200,000 for disaster relief for hurricanes, tornados, flooding, and also for the Haitian earthquake of 2010.
Mr. Tutwiler was also the driving force for WIND’s contributions for future insurance professionals. In 2005, with his leadership, WIND contributed the first of many donations to the FSU School of Business for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Risk Management at Florida State University. To date more than $30,000 has been donated to qualified students demonstrating financial need, scholarship, leadership, character and community service.
